Our Dåo Wine Selection:
The Doa region is locked in three sides by high granite mountains and sheltered from the Atlantic, it benefits from long warm summers, cool nights and abundant wintery rainfall. The sandy soils are well drained and the vineyards are stocked with a wealth of indigenous grape varieties.
Over two-thirds of Dao wines are red and can be made from up to nine different authorized grapes. Touriga Nacional grapes must account for at least 20% of any one wine. The other grapes permitted to make up the remaining varieties are the Jaen, Tinta Pinheira, Alfrocheiro Preto, Tinta Roriz and the Bastardo grapes.
