Cortes de Cima Chaminé |
||||
![]() Chaminé - pronounced: shah-mee-nay; translation: chimney. The name Chaminé originates from one of our vineyard plots - ‘Chaminé de Gião’, where originally the grapes used in the wine were grown. This is one of Cortes de Cima's most popular wine, boasting a consistent track record, which has attracted many fans both in Portugal and abroad. A juicy, ripe, easy drinking, lighter bodied style of wine, which also happens to be lower in alcohol. Chaminé is bottled early, usually within 6 months of harvest time and without any oak ageing. Best drunk young, but will improve with short term cellaring. Mainly Aragonez and Syrah, blended with other Portuguese varieties. Vinification Great fruit from local Portuguese varieties handpicked at optimum maturity. Fermented without stems at controlled temperature with frequent delestage (rack-and-return). This wine is filtered and bottled early to maintain clean, youthful, ripe fruit flavours. Tasting Notes Attractive bright red colour with purple edges. Aroma showing perfumed red berry fruits with some smoke and spice complexity. Palate very smooth and round, extremely well balanced, good texture and nice depth of ripe fruit, supple tannins, soft finish. Varieties: Aragonez 54% (Tempranillo), Syrah 36%, Touriga Nacional 6%, Trincadeira 3 %, Cab 1% Alcohol: 13.5% Bottled on the family estate in January 2008 Total production: 1.300.000 bottles Release date: February 2008 Awards: Bronze Medal - S.F.
